Many 4001 and 4003 players find they have trouble getting the neck pickup close enough to the strings for best tone and output. Some have even tried to move (raise) the poles of the pickups which is (usually) fatal to the pickup, others have cut/removed the rubber washers, and still others have ground down the screw heads to get more height.

While grinding off the screw heads does allows some additional height (1/16" or so) the grinding operation can damage the pickup and we don't recommend anyone doing this.
Our Classic Rick pickups do give more output than OEM pickups we recognise the players need to bring the pickup closer to the strings. Fortunately the whole height problem goes away when using our aftermarket covers. You can see the difference in height in the picture below as these covers are taller by nearly 1/8" (~3mm) than an OEM cover allowing the pickup core to be adjusted closer to the strings.
These aftermarket pickup covers have slightly tighter corners than an OEM cover so to get the height advantage these offer sometimes (not very often) some minor filing in the corners of the pickguard cutout may be needed with a 1/4" Round file.

Our aftermarket replacement pickup covers function and look very nice, the lip on the inside edge of the face on the open-covers (where the pickup core shows through) is slightly wider than the lip of an OEM open-cover, this effects the look only, functionally it actually offers slightly better shielding. Our Classic-T style covers do not have the wider lip.
Each cover includes: (1) top cover, (1) bottom plate, (4) screws, and (4) nuts. You re-use your original (2) mounting screws/nuts that came with your instrument.

Our Classic-T (RB68N-CVR) cover has our own unique trade-dress which features a silvery colored beauty-plate covering the pickup core. The beauty-plate can be removed by the customer should they feel it inhibits their tone or sense of style in any way. This attractive look unmistakeably sets our cover apart from an OEM cover, ours having two vertical silvery stripes under a chrome cover, exclusively from Classic Amplification.
